The Yoga Lab is a group of dedicated yoga practitioners committed to offering opportunities to study, grow and explore in the practices of yoga. We are passionate about self-inquiry and the process of conscious change and transformation. Our mission is to blend theory with practice, hard work with celebration, sweat with smiles and help you relax into the love that is YOU.
The Yoga Lab’s founders Aleta Adams, Rebecca Bell, and Ulla Lundgren are friends, dedicated yoga practitioners and teachers with over seventy-three years of combined exploration and study of yoga. We came together out of a longing for a “yoga home” grounded in tradition yet open to innovation, exploration and continuing education. Our asana/yoga-pose background is in Ashtanga Vinyasa, Iyengar, Anusara and eclectic Vinyasa Flow. We are dedicated to offer a full spectrum of yoga sadhana/practices including yoga philosophy, kirtan/devotional chanting, meditation, ayurveda and of course lots and lots of fun Yoga classes. We welcome all ages, beginners to advanced practitioners, and hope that you will find The Yoga Lab an inspiring, playful, and transformational yoga community. Today, The Yoga Lab is owned by Aleta Adams, Rebecca Bell and Ulla Lundgren. Nicole Baumann is our studio manager and front desk guru. We have a dedicated staff of karma yogis who help our daily operations by ensuring that the studio is clean and our towels are washed as well as checking in our classes and plastering Bend with our flyers. YOGA LAB FAQ’S
Whether you are a seasoned yogi or yogini, or its your first class, the Yoga Lab welcomes you to our studio. As part of our mission, we want to provide you with the most nurturing and supportive experience possible. When you enter our yoga studio doors you will find a smiling face, space to store your personal belongings, and access to loaner mats should you need it. We are happy to answer any questions you might have to help enhance your experience at the Yoga Lab. Below are some of the most common question, however feel free to reach out via email should you have a question not addressed below.
Please practice saucha/cleanliness. We ask that you respect our sacred practice space, and your fellow yoginis and yogis, by coming to class with your body and clothes clean. Refrain from using perfume, strong scented deodorants, essential oils and hair spray.
I'M NOT NATURALLY FLEXIBLE. CAN I STILL DO YOGA?
Yes! You do not need to be flexible, strong, have good balance or be coordinated to start doing yoga. Yoga welcomes you exactly they way you are. We will help guide you toward an appropriate level class for you.
ARE YOUR CLASSES HEATED?
For vinyasa classes we keep the studio between 80 – 85 so that you are able to work up a sweat. These classes are indicated by an * on our class schedule. All other classes are warm and comfortable, but not overwhelmingly hot.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Wear comfortable clothing that you can move easily in. We suggest shorts, workout tights, yoga pants, t-shirt (if you are a woman wear something on your upper body that stays put when you go partially or fully upside down.)
DO I NEED ANYTHING SPECIAL FOR MY FEET?
Please remove your shoes upon entering the studio. Yoga is best done barefoot, you have better grip and balance with bare feet.
WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE?
Please show up at least 10-15 minutes before class starts so you can sign in, arrange your practice space, and have a moment to settle in before beginning your practice.
DO YOU HAVE LOCKERS? WHERE CAN I LEAVE MY STUFF?
We do not have lockers however, we have several cubbies where you can store your belongings can doors lock 10 minutes after start of class. If you are concerned about theft please leave your valuables in your car.
DO I NEED WATER? SHOULD I BRING A WATER BOTTLE?
You are welcome to bring in a water bottle to class but please NO open containers. We have filtered water for refilling containers.
I HAVE AN INJURY. DOES THAT MATTER?
If you have injuries or physical limitations please let the teacher know before the start of class. Please modify your postures appropriately.
CAN I BRING A FRIEND WHO IS NEW TO YOGA?
Of course! Check out our class descriptions page to find a class appropriate for them.
DO YOU RENT MATS?
Yes, we rent Manduka ProLight mats for $2. We highly recommend you get your own mat, we sell them at the studio along with YogiToes towels.
The Yoga Lab offers students who may not have the ability to pay for yoga classes the opportunity to practice in the studio with a scholarship. Twice each year The Yoga Lab will review applications to our scholarship program and will announce scholarship recipients during the months of December and July. We have a selection of class packages and unlimited memberships that will be offered to qualifying individuals.
Scholarship recipients are chosen by The Yoga Lab Board of Directors and are chosen based on demonstration of financial need, commitment to studying and practicing yoga, and a strong desire to learn from teachers who teach at The Yoga Lab. The number of scholarships given will vary each application period and is based on the donations made by the community to the scholarship fund. Many of the class packs and memberships available are purchased and gifted by community members.
