The Yoga Lab is excited to announce that we have partnered with LoveYourBrain, to offer adaptive gentle yoga & meditation classes which aim to assist individuals suffering from Traumatic Brain Injury.
LoveYourBrain yoga classes have been created to address the concerns of members of the TBI community. They adapt specific poses to prevent dizziness and headaches, offer movements and sequences that support learning and memory, and incorporate strategies to help focus attention and release negative thoughts.
These classes flow at a slower pace with deliberate transitions, which allow TBI students a chance to safely expand their relationship with their mind and body.
TBI members of the LoveYourBrain movement report more satisfaction with their concentration, memory, and thinking. Improved ability to carry out day-to-day activities. As well as improvement in their feelings and emotions, personal and social life’s and their attitudes about their current situation and their future prospects.
Our adaptive teachers have completed LoveYourBrain training in order to fully serve TBI yogis with varying needs and challenges. If you or your caregiver have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

ADAPTIVE YOGA FAQ’S
Whether you are a seasoned yogi or yogini, or its your first class, the Yoga Lab welcomes you to our studio. As part of our mission, we want to provide you with the most nurturing and supportive experience possible. When you enter our yoga studio doors you will find a smiling face, space to store your personal belongings, and access to loaner mats should you need one. We are happy to answer any questions you might have to help enhance your experience at the Yoga Lab. Below are some of the most common question regarding our Adaptive Yoga Classes, however feel free to reach out via email should you have a question not addressed below.
DO I NEED PRIOR YOGA EXPERIENCE TO ATTEND THESE CLASSES?
No! Adaptive yoga classes are open to all levels of experience. If you are new to yoga, please be sure to let your instructor know so that we can provide you with additional assistance and answer any questions you may have.
WHO ARE THESE CLASSES FOR?
LoveYourBrain Friendly classes are for individuals with post-concussion syndrome, mild to moderate TBI, and severe TBI, and their caregivers. These classes are suitable for anyone who would benefit from a skills-based group for stress-management, focused attention, and physical activity. Students should be should able to move without assistance, able to regulate emotions, and willing to follow instructions.
DOES THE YOGA LAB HAVE AN ACCESSIBLE ENTRANCE?
Yes! Everyone is welcomed to our studio, and our accessibility reflects that.
ARE CAREGIVERS WELCOMED?
Absolutely! Caregivers are not only welcomed, but encouraged to attend and assist in our classes. There is no additional cost for caregivers who would like to join.
SHOULD I CONSULT A DOCTOR BEFORE ATTENDING AN ADAPTIVE CLASS?
Yes. We recommend checking with your healthcare professional to ensure adaptive yoga is a safe practice for you.
WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE?
Please show up at least 10 – 15 minutes before class starts so you can sign in, arrange your practice space, and have a moment to settle in before beginning your practice.
WHAT DOES "LOVE YOUR BRAIN FRIENDLY" MEAN?
LoveYourBrain Friendly classes are gentle yoga classes that accommodate the needs of traumatic brain injury survivors and their caregivers. All of our adaptive classes are labeled as “Love Your Body Friendly” and noted as such on our schedule.
DO I NEED WATER? SHOULD I BRING A WATER BOTTLE?
You are welcome to bring in a water bottle to class but please NO open containers. We have filtered water for refilling containers.

LOVE YOUR BRAIN
The LoveYourBrain Foundation was established by brothers, Adam and Kevin Pearce, following Kevin’s severe traumatic brain injury from a snowboarding accident before the 2010 winter Olympics. His experience brought to light the significance and prevalence (over 2.5 million TBIs occur in the U.S. each year) of traumatic brain injury.
LoveYourBrain is a non-profit organization who’s aim is to improve the quality of life for people affected by traumatic brain injury— concussions to severe injuries — through programs that build community.
The LoveYourBrain Yoga Program aims to support individuals who have experienced a traumatic brain injury and their caregivers, through participation in community-based gentle yoga and meditation classes that have been tailored to their specific needs.
